W1EDH Special Event Station Celebrates Epilepsy Foundation of CT's Mud Volleyball Tournament

Members of the Middlesex Amateur Radio Society activated a Special Event Station at Zoar's Pond on August 19-20, 2016, during the Mud Volleyball Tournament, a benefit for the Epilepsy Foundation of Connecticut.  Operators set up three stations and a number of antennas to work stations in the United States, Central and South America, and Europe.  The ILLW (International Lighthouse-Lightship Weekend) contest was also on the air, and operators contacted several lighthouses in the United States and one lighthouse in Iceland. Daytime conditions were difficult but the stations were on the air through the night.  Many stations had never heard of Mud Volleyball.

Mac Harper, W1FYM, has been building a new radio since June.
Since Field Day, He's added a P3 Panscope. Last night he worked a number of
dx stations on 40 and 20 0n SSB.
